For those of us that grew up with an incredibly stern, and by extension rigid, parent, then you know that the only way to survive is by seeking comfort in an equally nurturing and tolerant complement. Growing up, although youth blinded me to it, I ultimately benefited from an extreme example of this environment. Although, my father passed almost half a decade ago now, it was his harsh traditionalism that allowed me to find solace that only a mother could provide. Who I am, and who I am becoming is a testament to my father’s seemingly absurd iron fist and my mother’s continuing support and patience with her strong-willed, only daughter. So, to Vic and Vickie, it’s in your honor that I’ve dedicated this venture. I love you! Thank you for you that were and you that continue to be!
